Description
The BMW M4 GT3 serves as the successor to the BMW M6 GT3 and M8 GTE, developed to compete in the highly competitive GT3 category of international sports car racing. Rolled out of BMW’s Dingolfing plant in July 2020 following extensive development, including wind tunnel testing with a 60 percent scale model, the M4 GT3 made its competitive race debut in June 2021 before entering full time competition across top GT racing series and endurance events worldwide from 2022 onward. A key focus of the car’s development was improving drivability, cost efficiency, and ease of maintenance compared to its predecessors, making it more approachable for both professional and amateur race teams.
Power comes from BMW’s P58 M TwinPower Turbo inline six cylinder engine, producing up to 590 horsepower while shaving roughly 80 pounds compared to the V8 used in the previous M8 GTE, paired with an Xtrac six speed sequential transaxle gearbox operated entirely through paddle shifters. The M4 GT3 quickly proved itself on track, racking up more than 70 race wins and countless podium finishes since its 2022 debut season, and BMW introduced an evolved M4 GT3 EVO variant for the 2025 season, which alone claimed roughly 80 victories and over 100 podium finishes in its very first year of competition.
