Description
The BMW M3 Touring, introduced in 2022, holds a genuinely historic place in BMW M’s lineup as the first factory built M3 station wagon ever offered to customers, arriving nearly two decades after an early 2000s M3 Touring prototype was built and ultimately shelved. BMW had actually attempted the concept once before, showcasing an M3 Touring Concept based on the E46 generation back in 2000, but engineering challenges around fitting the M3’s wider rear wheel arches onto the existing wagon body meant that car never reached production. It would take until the G81 generation for BMW to finally bring a proper M3 wagon to market, first revealed at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
Sharing its front end, twin kidney grille, and turbocharged inline six powertrain with the standard M3 sedan, the M3 Touring sends over 500 horsepower to all four wheels through BMW’s xDrive system, blending genuine supercar baiting performance with the everyday practicality of a large, family friendly cargo area. BMW later expanded the lineup with a more powerful Competition Touring variant in 2024, further cementing the wagon’s place as a genuine enthusiast favorite. Notably, the M3 Touring has remained unavailable in the United States, making it something of a forbidden fruit for American BMW fans and adding to its appeal among global collectors.
Hot Wheels celebrates this landmark performance wagon as part of its Wagons series, finished in a striking Green paint that highlights the M3 Touring’s sporty yet practical proportions at 1:64 scale. This casting captures a genuinely significant moment in BMW M’s history, when the brand finally answered decades of enthusiast requests for a proper M3 wagon.
