Description
The BMW 635CSi represents the flagship performance variant of BMW’s E24 6 Series, a sharply styled grand tourer designed by Paul Bracq as a successor to the celebrated E9 3.0 CSL coupe. First introduced in 1978, the 635CSi sat at the top of the 6 Series lineup until the arrival of the specialist M635CSi in 1984, powered throughout its life by BMW’s smooth inline six engines, ranging from 3.4 to 3.5 litres depending on model year. Early cars featured a close ratio 5 speed gearbox and a distinctive single piece rear spoiler, while later versions gained updated Motronic fuel injection and central locking, refining the car over its remarkably long production run through 1989, making the E24 the longest lived BMW generation of its time.
Beyond its road going reputation, the 635CSi built a genuine motorsport legacy, competing successfully in touring car racing throughout the 1980s and claiming outright victories at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in 1983, 1985, and 1986, along with European Touring Car Championship titles in 1981, 1983, and 1986. Its race proven pedigree and elegant, shark nosed design have made the 635CSi a genuinely respected and increasingly collectible classic among European grand tourer enthusiasts today.
Hot Wheels reimagines this classic BMW coupe as part of its Wild Widebody series, a lineup known for giving beloved castings dramatically flared, exaggerated bodywork inspired by modern widebody tuning culture. This casting is finished in a bold Orange paint with an aggressive widebody treatment, taking the 635CSi’s elegant original lines and giving them a fun, larger than life makeover at 1:64 scale.
