Description
The Honda NSX Type R represents the ultimate expression of Honda’s flagship mid engine sports car, first introduced in 1990 to compete with rivals like the Ferrari 348. Styled by a team including Ken Okuyama and Masahito Nakano, the NSX was engineered as a genuinely no compromise driver’s car, and the Type R variant took that philosophy even further, stripping away comfort features and adding track focused suspension and braking upgrades for customers who wanted the purest possible experience behind the wheel.
Within the Fast & Furious franchise, a black NSX finished to resemble the NSX-R became one of the most memorable vehicles in the series, driven by Jordana Brewster’s character Mia Toretto in the celebrated bridging sequence between 2009’s Fast & Furious and 2011’s Fast Five. In the scene, Mia pilots the NSX alongside Brian in Dom’s Charger and two allies in a Trans Am, catching up to a prison transport bus in a daring bid to free Dominic Toretto. The car used for filming was a genuine 2003 Acura NSX-T, heavily modified to mimic the more track focused NSX-R specification, complete with upgraded suspension, brakes, and exterior parts pushing output to around 295 horsepower at the wheels.
Hot Wheels honors this memorable Fast & Furious hero car as part of its Fast & Furious series, officially licensed by both Honda and Universal City Studios, and produced as an imported release for adult collectors. This casting captures the NSX Type R’s low, compact mid engine proportions, finished in Black at 1:64 scale, celebrating one of the franchise’s most beloved and skillfully driven vehicles.
