Description
The Gordon Murray Automotive T.50s Niki Lauda represents the uncompromising track only sibling of the road going T.50, designed and developed from day one by legendary engineer Gordon Murray, the man behind the celebrated McLaren F1. Named in honor of three time Formula 1 World Champion Niki Lauda, Murray’s former teammate on the Brabham F1 team, the T.50s was engineered with a singular focus, delivering the purest possible on track driving experience with nothing included for show. Just 25 examples were built, each priced at roughly 3.1 million pounds before taxes, cementing its status as one of the rarest and most exclusive track cars ever produced.
At the heart of the T.50s sits a substantially reworked version of the T.50’s naturally aspirated 3.9 litre Cosworth V12, tuned to produce between 725 and 772 horsepower depending on specification while revving to an astonishing 12,100 rpm, a specific power output that actually exceeds Murray’s own legendary Formula 1 DFV engine. Weighing as little as 852 kilograms dry, roughly 295 pounds lighter than the road car, and featuring a bespoke aerodynamic package capable of generating up to 1,200 kilograms of downforce through a rear mounted delta wing and central ground effect fan, the T.50s achieves a power to weight ratio that rivals genuine LMP1 prototype race cars. During development, the car shattered a 20 year GT3 lap record by seven seconds, proving its credentials firmly belong on track rather than the road.
Hot Wheels brings this extraordinary track hypercar into its HW Exotics range, finished in a bold Orange paint that highlights the T.50s’ aggressive aerodynamic bodywork, prominent rear wing, and central driving position inspired cockpit at 1:64 scale. This casting celebrates one of the most focused and technically extraordinary track cars ever created.
