Description
The 2023 Toyota GR Corolla took the sport compact world by storm, developed by Gazoo Racing, Toyota’s in-house competition division, to compete directly with the very best performance hatchbacks on the market. Built from the everyday four door Corolla Hatchback platform, the GR Corolla transforms that humble foundation into a genuinely different animal, proving that Toyota’s motorsport division could take one of the world’s most sensible economy cars and turn it into a legitimate hot hatch contender.
Power comes from a turbocharged 1.6 litre three cylinder engine, an unusually small displacement for the output it produces, delivering a genuinely impressive 300 horsepower through a standard all wheel drive system and an exclusively 6 speed manual transmission, no automatic option available at any trim level. This combination delivers a 0 to 60 mph time of just 4.9 seconds, genuinely quick figures backed up by upgraded high performance four piston front brake calipers with ventilated and slotted rotors. The range topping Circuit Edition adds a forged carbon fiber roof for reduced weight and a lower center of gravity, while the ultra limited two seat Morizo Edition pushes the GR Corolla’s hardcore credentials even further, cementing the car’s reputation as a genuinely serious, track capable daily driver.
Hot Wheels celebrates this modern hot hatch icon as part of its Slide Street 2 range within the Car Culture series, an imported line known for its detailed, adult collector focused castings of celebrated real world performance vehicles. This casting captures the GR Corolla’s aggressive, purposeful hatchback proportions at 1:64 scale, finished in a bold Yellow paint that pays tribute to one of the most exciting new performance cars of the modern era.
