Description
The Cadillac Project GTP Hypercar marked the American brand’s dramatic return to top level endurance racing, previewing what would become the Cadillac V-Series.R race car built to LMDh regulations. Unveiled in June 2022 as Cadillac’s third generation prototype racer, the car was codeveloped by Cadillac Design, Cadillac Racing, and longtime chassis partner Dallara, marking the first time Cadillac’s own design studio played such a central role in shaping a motorsport machine. Powered by a purpose built 5.5 litre naturally aspirated V8 paired with a shared LMDh hybrid system from Bosch, the car produces a regulated 671 horsepower, notably making Cadillac the only LMDh manufacturer to run a naturally aspirated engine, giving it a genuinely distinctive sound on track compared to its turbocharged rivals.
Visually, the Project GTP Hypercar drew heavily on Cadillac’s design heritage, incorporating vertical lighting and floating blade elements borrowed from the brand’s road cars, alongside “Le Monstre” badging that pays tribute to Cadillac’s first ever Le Mans entry back in 1950. The resulting race car marked Cadillac’s first appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 20 years when it debuted in 2023, and the production version, the V-Series.R, went on to sweep the Teams’, Drivers’, and Manufacturers’ Championships in the 2023 IMSA SportsCar Championship season, backing up its striking design with genuine on track success.
Hot Wheels celebrates this modern endurance racing prototype as part of its HW Turbo series, finished in a bold Blue paint that highlights the car’s aggressive aerodynamic bodywork, prominent front splitter, and oversized rear wing at 1:64 scale.
