Description
The Jeep J10 traces its roots to the Jeep Gladiator, a full size pickup truck built on Jeep’s SJ platform that first appeared in 1962 alongside the related Wagoneer wagon. By 1971, Jeep had dropped the Gladiator name entirely, simplifying the lineup to what was known simply as the Jeep pickup, or J series, with the J10 designation representing the half ton, 119 inch wheelbase version of the truck starting in 1974. By 1973, the year this casting represents, the J-series had already gained a number of practical updates, including a lighter, easier to open tailgate, double wall bed side panels, and a redesigned instrument panel with larger, clearer gauges.
Under the hood, buyers could choose from a range of AMC engines, including inline sixes and V8s up to a robust 401 cubic inch unit, giving the J-series genuine towing and off road muscle to match its rugged, boxy styling. Sharing its cab and front end design with the related Jeep Wagoneer and Cherokee of the era, the J-series pickup built a devoted following over more than two decades of production, eventually giving rise to bold factory trims like the Honcho, known for its striking striping and decal packages, before the modern Jeep Gladiator nameplate was eventually revived in 2019.
Hot Wheels brings this classic Jeep pickup into its Baja Blazers series, a lineup dedicated to off road machines built for desert and dirt performance, depicted here in a bold Orange finish with off road tires and rugged styling touches meant to evoke a truck genuinely built for trail use. This casting, powered in Hot Wheels lore by a modified 401 V8, captures the J10’s boxy, upright proportions at 1:64 scale, giving collectors a fun, desert ready take on a genuine slice of Jeep pickup history.
